In Sagada, you can join the morning orange picking activity at the "Rock Inn"... You pick the oranges yourself at their orange grove behind the Inn and they are weighed and you pay for what you picked. Everyone makes it a point to have a meal at the "Yoghurt House". Personally, the best food is at the "Log Cabin", but you have to go there in advance and order hours ahead. "St. Joseph's" is a good place to relax and have coffee, nice garden with lots of flowers, and they also have a "Buffet Night". Masferre' Cafe has sucky food (in my opinion). The nicest and best place to stay in Sagada is at the "Rock Inn", but it's a bit pricey and far from town but they do have a shuttle service.

There is a certain day, I'm not sure if it's Fri., Sat., or Sun., where people come from all over and sell their wares by the sides of the road leading to town. It's only for one day a week though.

Mt. Pulag overnight? I don't know... It's been years since I was there it was a pretty long walk.

Banaue is OK, if you have never seen it before.

There is also a small museum in Bontoc. I believe the entrance ticket is Php 50.00/ person. It's worth checking out.

Sometimes it pays to check out the websites of different airlines to see their promos... Philippine Airlines (PAL) had some far out promos last weekend! The promo period was from midnight, Saturday 01 May, up to 6 am Sunday, so it was for 6 hours only. A round trip flight to Puerto Princesa, Palawan, was Php 2,000.00 (regular fare is Php 7,000.00++). I was able to book a PAL flight to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam for Php 7,000.00 round trip, all taxes included.

Puerto Princesa in Palawan has a lot of interesting places to visit, and there is also the option of a bus ride to El Nido town (it's a 5-hour bus ride, but well worth it).

El Nido is probably one of the most beautiful places in the Philippines. Lots of islands with stunning topography, pristine white sand beaches, good places to eat and several reasonably-priced places to stay.

It is really unfortunate how a foreign tour could be cheaper than a local tour.

For a local weekend tour or vacation, is there any worthwhile place one can visit for under P10,000.

Honestly, I doubt it. But then, it would depend on your "standards". You can go to Anilao, Batangas, for a weekend for less than 10K but unless you dive there is no point in going there. To really enjoy a place you should stay at least 3 nights/ 4 days.

Yes, it is actually cheaper to travel internationally within asia. I just got back from a Vietnam/ Cambodia trip last week (8 days). the air ticket cost me Php 7K, round trip (PAL PROMO) , which is cheaper than a RT Puerto Princesa and/ or Davao ticket. I went to Beijing (beautiful!!!) late 2009, RT ticket was also 7K. Went to Shanghai April 2010, RT ticket was also 7K. Sadly, other countries also have more to offer than the Philippines. So far, the best beaches I have seen were at Koh Turatao in Thailand. Vietnam's version of Baguio is Dalat.

I would recommend Western Samar (kahit na taga Boracay ako). Great cheap hotels. Great beaches. Great surf action in Borongan. Very friendly people and great sea food.

I have planned up going to miami beach vacation Miami is a great destination to spend a vacation with family or friends. I have been to Miami beach vacation many times. Actually I like to do shopping at mall in Miami as you will find number of varieties of clothes and stuff. The beaches and hotels of miami are very beautiful.
